simple things....
Sometimes I am just taken back for a moment by the simplest things in life. I think about this stuff often so I am sure I have said it on here once or twice before, but when you have experienced infertility and infant loss you have a greater understanding and appreciation for the simple things in life. This morning we attended the Labor Day Truck Parade. It is nothing more than 25+ semi trucks driving through our downtown honking their horns. But, sitting there watching Grant's face light up when he saw the trucks and heard their cool, loud horns just brought tears to my eyes. I realize the tears were probably pregnancy hormone induced, but I just took a moment to be thankful for the simple things like the amazement and wonder of a little boy waving to a bunch of trucks driving by. I hope that all of you are enjoying your Labor Day and that you each take a minute to be thankful for the simple things in life that so many people out there are longing for right now.

32 Weeks!!!
Another milestone down- wahoo! It feels good to get to this point where I know if something were to happen and the baby needed to be delivered that he would have a 90% chance of surviving. And, not to mention that it just feels good to be in the home stretch now. I start going to weekly appts next week to monitor my blood pressure and ensure that there is no protein in my urine. I also will get another peek at this little guy at 34 weeks to check his growth and fluid levels. I can't wait to see him again!
About a week ago I woke up and was suddenly really uncomfortable. I am still experiencing sciatic nerve pains in my lower back and the baby is really low so I am having a lot of pain under my belly. That combined with my sheer exhaustion just makes for a long day, especially when I am chasing G around!
Also, some of you have asked why there is no name game this time around. Well, that is because this poor baby doesn't have a name yet! We are still struggling back and forth between a few but just can't seem to make a decision. I am starting to stress out a bit, but don't want to make any harsh decisions just so we have something. Here's praying we can find the perfect name soon!
Here is my 32 week picture. The same day I woke up really uncomfy, I also felt as if I had grown a ton. My dr confirmed that when she told me I suddenly measured a week ahead when just 2 weeks before I measured a week behind! Guess I am going to be a late grower this time around!

Cottage
The first week in August, we took our annual cottage trip with J's extended family. It was a HOT week- about 90+ with 150% humidity so I was slightly uncomfortable for the first few days with no a.c. Pregnancy + me + heat just do not get along at all! Luckily the heat died down and I was able to enjoy a few beautiful days. I was really nervous because just a few days before, I had my dr appt where my bp was high and I was put on low activity. It is nearly impossible to take care of a toddler, especially at a lake cottage, and not be on your feet! I did what I could, put my feet up and relaxed while G was sleeping and checked my bp everyday. Pretty sure Grant had the time of his life that week. He woke up everyday and looked out the door, pointed to the lake and said "pool". He wouldn't even eat breakfast, he had to be outside by the lake at all times. Here are a few pics of our fun week!
Grant became such a good swimmer this week! This lake is really nice because it is shallow for quite a while so the kids can walk and play and not have to swim all the time. Grant actually enjoyed wearing his swimmies for once and by the end of the week he was lifting his feet up and kicking and swimming around like a big boy!
Grant loved riding the wave runner and going for boat rides. Everytime he would see daddy, papa or grandma, he would pick up his life jacket and take it to them indicating that he was ready to go on a boat ride!
Grant also enjoyed throwing sand all over everyone in the sandbox!

Books
Grant loves to read books! Every time he goes down for a nap or to bed he has to read a minimum of three books before he will even let us turn off the light and say his prayers. At the moment his favorite books to "read" are his picture books. If you know me, you know that I am NOT a scrapbooker! I love the books and wish I had the patience, but it is just not my thing. So, as a way of documenting Grant's life so far, I have started making digital picture books.
(Do you see where this is going???? Now, I am sure you know by now that I love myself a good deal especially when Shutterfly is involved! Sorry if you feel this is a shameless plug. But, due to the fact that since I had Grant and went to part time the word budget has taken on a whole new meaning, I am all about deals like the following that Shutterfly is offering bloggers!)
After Grant was born I used Shutterfly to make a book of my pregnancy. I thought it would be something fun for him to look at when he is older. Amazingly enough, he chooses that book every night over Goodnight Moon! He loves to look at all my belly pics, his ultrasound pics and loves hear his story starting with the stork following us around Acapulco in Jan 2009 to October 1 when we first held him in our arms.
Thanks to this amazing offer from Shutterfly, I can now start working on a free book for baby boy #2! I just hope he likes his book as much as Grant does.

Quick update
My blood pressure was still on the high side so I need to continue my low activity status for now. Thankfully, there was no protein in my urine so that was definitely a relief. And, I didn't gain the 5 pounds I thought I had, but I was pretty darn close! I know it is a good thing, but I swear I will never get used to seeing the scale go up that much in a week!

29 weeks!
Finally, we have arrived at the third trimester! Some days it feels like this pregnancy is just ticking along and then others it feels like there is not enough time before October comes. I have been feeling just ok lately. I have had a lot of tingling in my arms and legs which freaks me out and at my last appt, my blood pressure was high and there was a trace of protein in my urine. I had to see a nurse practitioner because my 2nd appt of the week had been cancelled with the dr. I go back today to hopefully meet with the dr and see if there is any change to my bp. I was told last week to lay low, put my feet up and eat less salt. Almost all of those are impossible when you have a busy toddler! I am praying that my bp is down today because the last words I want to hear are bed rest.
Other than that, I am just celebrating the fact that we are past 28 weeks which is another viability milestone. Next stop= 32 weeks! I have startedthinking obsessing about what we are going to do when this baby is born. We put our house up for sale in the spring due to the fact that it only has 2 bedrooms. The previous owner tore down a room to make a nice master suite which we really enjoyed until we found out we had another babe on the way. We would love for the boys to have separate rooms. However, it seems that no one else wants a 2 bedroom house either, so at this point I am willing to make it work. I keep having nightmares that I have no home to bring baby boy home to because our house sold at the last minute! So, we will hopefully be taking the house off the market at the end of the month in order to give me time to nest and figure out how we are all going to fit in here. I also ordered a double stroller. There was a great one day sale that I just couldn't pass up. However, it is just sitting in the box in our garage at the moment just in case we have to return it. I have such a hard time committing to that kind of stuff yet! We are also trying to find a sitter for one day a week for the boys starting in the winter of 2012. We had one lined up but it sounds like she may not be able to do it anymore so that is stressing me out a bit. I just keep praying that God will lead us to someone amazing that will take wonderful care of our babies. I think that is all the updates for now! Here is my latest belly pic- it was 28 weeks and I really think after spending a week at the cottage with my family I have put on at least 5 pounds since this pic was taken. Guess I will find out at my appt today!

Summer
Well, I had great intentions of doing separate posts for all the fun things we did this summer. However, somehow August snuck up on me and I haven't posted anything. So, this is a catch all post for our summer activities up to this point!
In June, Grant and I took a Mommy and Me swimming class. It was held at a friends outdoor pool. I was so excited to do this with Grant because he loves the water and I was sure he would love two weeks of pool time. What I didn't think about was the fact that we live in a very unpredictable area weather wise! It was 57 degrees and raining one day- can you say permanent goosebumps??? Needless to say, Grant was less than thrilled with the swimming because it was so cold. That and the fact that he is very strong willed and doesn't like to take instructions from others made for a very interesting couple of weeks! I am still glad I fought through the cold two weeks though as I know he did learn a few things.
For the fourth of July weekend we traveled down to my parents house to celebrate the holiday at their pool and lake cottage. It was a wonderful weekend full of fireworks, family and friends. I can't even explain to you how excited Grant gets when he sees a "boom" aka firework. The look of utter amazement on his face in this picture below captures just a little of his excitement!
In July, Grant and I took a weekly Kindermusik class. He loves music so I thought this would be something fun to do with just him and I before the baby comes. However, as I mentioned before, Grant is strong willed/independent and during class instead of sitting nicely on mom's lap like the other kids, he is running circles around the room! Not the mom time I was hoping for, but that is my Grant- always full of energy and never wanting to sit still so I guess I just need to accept it!
Grant's favorite activity so far this summer has been mowing. Ever since the day this bubble mower came into our house, it has been Grant's prized possession. It even had to go in the pool once with us because he wouldn't let it go. He pushes this thing around the block for hours and mows everyone's yards and he has even had neighbors ask if it really works! My favorite thing to watch however is Grant mow the yard with daddy. I sit back and watch Grant mowing alongside J and my heart just melts.
I know it seems silly, but these are the simple life moments that I longed for for so many years. Watching my baby with pure innocence as he watches the fireworks on 4th of July, freezing my tush off at mommy and me swimming lessons and watching Grant want to be just like his daddy are moments that fill my heart with love and thankfulness for all the amazing blessings God has given us!
