“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him." Jeremiah 17:7

We sold our house last night.  To say I am freaking out is an understatement.  We had no idea it would go this fast and did not have a plan of where we were heading next.  We have a month to find a place, to pack up and leave.   I am a mixed ball of emotions from scared as heck to happy that we got our asking price to sad as ever to say goodbye to this house and our neighbors that have been so good to us.  Please say a prayer for peace for me as I do not handle change well and the next month is going to be full of huge changes in our lives!

Ten on Tuesday

1.  Comment heard from Grant this week, "my boobs hurt."  Note to self- stop complaining about mastitis pain in front of Grant!!!!

2.  Ashton finally rolled over and he hasn't stopped since!  It is so funny to look at him one minute and see him on the other side of the room the next.

3.  Our summer weather has ended and I have to admit that I am ok with that for a few weeks yet.  I have a lot to do inside and being out all the time was nice, but I didn't get anything done!

4.  We started the 3 Day Potty Training Method on Friday.  Today is day 4 and we are still working on it......  There were good days and bad days.  Grant was accident free yesterday and freaked out when he couldn't make it to the potty last night.  I think he gets the concept- now if we could just get him to poo on the potty we will be all set!

5. I have found a new charity opp that I am so excited about!  I read about it on another blog I follow and thought it was a perfect opportunity to give because I have a ton of cards laying around my house that I am having a hard time getting rid of.  This way I feel that I can help give back and still give all those meaningful cards a purpose!  Check it out- St. Judes Recycled Card Program  http://www.stjudesranch.org/shop/recycled-card-program/

6.  Mastitis last week for me equals thrush this week for Ashton....the sickness in this house never seems to end.

7.  I heard the news that a family we know found out their 3 year old son has cancer.  I am praying boldly for healing and strength for all of them.  News like that always makes me take a look back at what is really important in life... aka stop trying to do all those fun projects on pinterest and start spending as much times as I can with my kids!

8. I received the card in the mail on Friday that my mole was not cancerous- praise God!

9. I laugh so hard every time I see this cartoon.  We have been living the dream in the Hell position this week as Grant wakes up around 5:30 to go potty and won't go back to bed.  Out of desperation for a few more hours of sleep, we pull him into bed with us.

10.  Blessing this week:  our day care situation.  We secured day care for Thursdays only a few weeks before I went back to work and I was so skeptical because Grant had only gone to family and friends up to that point.  I am so thankful to have found a Christian woman who takes such good care of them and  just loves the boys like crazy.  It makes it so much easier to go to work when I know they are being taken well care of.

Ten on Tuesday...

1.  Apparently Grant has been spending a lot of time in his time out chair lately.... he put the boat in "time out" during tub time because it was being naughty!

2.  The weather here has been AMAZING this past week.  This was exactly what I needed to get out of my no spring break rut.

3.  Grant has decided that it is time to be potty trained.  Every time we are out somewhere, he asks to go potty and actually goes.  So, we went to the store and bought some Toy Story underwear and now he wants to wear them all the time.  Unfortunately, with all the house showings and with my dad being here this week, it has been impossible to stay home and focus on going potty.   I am hoping that once things slow down this week we can go diaper/pull up free.

4.  Along those same lines, we were out to dinner at a nice restaurant last week and Grant wanted to go potty.  I figured I would go as well while I was there.  The bathroom was full of people and suddenly Grant yells, "Good job Mommy, high five!"  I was laughing hysterically, but I got some strange looks when we walked out of the stall!

5.  I had a mole removed by my ear last week and it has the signs of being cancerous.  Please say a prayer that I receive a card in the mail saying it is ok instead of the dreaded phone call.  The dr said it is nothing to lose sleep over, but any time the C word comes into play, sleep is lost!

6. Sunday night I came down mastitis.  This is my fourth time having it between Grant and Ashton.  I woke up thinking I just had a plugged duct but by evening I developed body aches and chills.  I figured this would happen since we have been so busy this past week and I was pretty lazy with keeping a tight pumping schedule.  I guess I learned my lesson!

7.  I am pretty sure that Ashton is trying to say mama.... so what if I have only practiced mama with him?  I need at least one of my boys to be a momma's boy!

8.  Today I heard a conversation between Grant and his friend Lo regarding Jesus being yummy.  I got a good laugh, but think we should probably sit down and discuss that we don't eat Jesus!

9.  I tried this recipe from Pinterest this past week and was surprised at how delicious it was!

10.  Blessing this week:  Time spent with Grandpa Pat.  Most of my life, my grandparents lived far away from me so I never got the chance to really get to know them well.  Now, my mom lives about 2 hours away and my dad about a 6 hour plane ride away.  I wish they all lived closer so my boys would have the same relationship with them that Jason has with his grandparents.  For now, I will simply be thankful that they do whatever they can to see the boys as much as possible and might I mention, spoil them rotten!

5 Months

Ashton Nowell- I am in total denial that you will be 6 months old next month!  You are getting so big and growing up so fast, I can hardly stand it.  This is what you have been up to this month...

*I finally gave in and packed away your size 3 clothes and took out the 6.  Otherwise, you are wearing 3-6 month size.

*you weighed 13 lbs and 15 oz when I had you at the drs office the other day.

*you are finally sleeping through the night again.  Naps have been a hit or miss but you are sure that you want your night bottle at 9:30 and then you sleep until 7:30/8ish.

*you have been sick a lot the last month.  We finally put you on meds for a sinus infection and so far your cough is gone, but you are still not acting like your happy content self.  I am suspecting that white spot we keep seeing is finally trying to make its way through.

*you eat 5 ounces every couple hours.  There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it, we just feed you when you are hungry.

*you are such a happy baby (when all is well).  You smile and laugh at everything.  I especially love to watch you and Grant interact - he loves to make you smile.

*due to the unseasonably warm weather here this week, you got to go outside a lot.  You loved laying on the blanket and listening to all the birds chirping!

*you discovered your ears this month and obviously you think they are pretty cool because you won't stop touching them!  You also put everything you can get your little hands on into your mouth.  I think it might be time to find a new home for all of the small parts for Grant's toys!

*your little legs are always so busy.  When people pick you up, you start jumping on their lap as if they are a human jumperoo.  You also get so excited when I go to get you in the morning - your legs are just kicking away.  It is so cute.

*you talk a lot and love it when I get in your face and practice your mama, dada, titi, zaza, etc.. words.  You just smile away.

*we are still not rolling over yet, but are so close that I think it will be any day now.

*we are still waiting for your hair to grow to decide what color it is going to be....

*since you have been taking Amoxicilan, you have started to gag/throw up at everything other than your bottles.  We have put a hold on the cereal until you are done with the meds and show interest because I am sick of you just spitting it all out at me!

I love this stage that you are in right now as you start to discover the world around you!

Ten on Tuesday

1.  I think we are all finally on the mend.  Ashton was put on antibiotics for a sinus infection- please pray that they work!  I am having issues getting him to take his meds so if anyone has any advice on how to get him to not spit them back in my face, I would love to hear it!

2.  After your baby sleeps through the night for a couple months, it is REALLY hard to suddenly go back to him waking up 2-3 times a night!  It amazes me I ever survive those newborn days!  Really hoping that Ashton can get back to a routine soon....

3.  We rented Toy Story 3 from the library.  Every time Grant watches it, I cry.  I am such a sap for things like that...

4.  I am having serious spring break withdrawal this year.  I will pay the extra bag fee if anyone is willing to let me sneak into their suitcase!  I want to see palm trees, swim in salt water and walk in the sand SO BAD!

5. Grant's favorite saying of the moment is,"What's the problem, guys?"  It is so funny to hear him say that!

6.  The weather here is fabulous this week.  We even got outside for a nice long walk by our property on Sunday.  It was great to be out without our bulky coats!

7.  I am in denial that Ashton needs to move up to 6 month clothes.  I want him to stay my baby forever....

8.  I totally caved..... I was out shopping with my dad and it was past lunch time. I had a hunger headache, Grant was starving, Ashton was screaming and I had to pump really bad (meaning I couldn't make lunch until I pumped).  Everything said,"Krista, just stop and get fast food for lunch."  So, I did.  I feel guilty, but in the moment, it was SO good!

9.   I am currently reading 'Making the Terrible Two's Terrific" and am crossing my fingers it works.  Grant has been challenging us at every turn and I would like some tips on the correct way to handle those challenges!

10. The toys are starting to get bigger than us- this is not good!

Ten on Tuesday

I stole this idea from another blog I follow.  Lately I feel like I have lots of random things to post about and less time than ever so I thought this might be a fun way to connect!

1. Conversation between Grant and I this week...
Me: Grant, why are your hands down your pants?
Grant: Looking for spiders.
Me: Do you usually have spiders in your pants, Grant????
Grant: Yes, mommy.  I always have spiders in my pants.
Me:  Are you sure you didn't mean ants, Grant?
Grant: Oh ya, ants in my pants mommy.

The things this kid says just crack me up!!!

2.  Grant apparently shares my love of Christmas because he is still singing Jingle Bells.  And for some reason he now thinks that singing JB is a form of prayer because as we bow our heads before dinner, he starts singing Jingle Bells!

3.  Ashton is a maniac in his jumperoo/  The energy he releases in that thing scares me!!!

4.  Grandpa Pat from CA is coming to visit this week.  Hopefully I can get Grant to stop referring to him as Uncle Pat before he arrives....

5. Nothing makes you feel like the mom of an infant more than walking into a wedding ceremony carrying your pump!!!  Yes, that was me this past weekend....

6.  We are all sick and I am, for lack of a better word, SICK of it!

7.  Grant's new obsession is Toy Story.  He asks to watch it every.minute.of.every.day.  Since we have all been sick lately, he has watched it more than normal.   I think I can recite that movie by now- must get Toy Story 2 and 3 for variety...

8.  I gave up fast food for lent and I am craving french fries SO BAD right now!

9.  Speaking of food, my SIL made this dessert for a dinner a couple weeks ago and I can't get it out of my mind... it combines all my loves when it comes to desserts- chocolate, gooey goodness!

10.  I LOVE the show The Chew.  The 1:00 hour is nap time/mommy tv time in our house!

hmmm..... the last three numbers were about food- maybe I should eat some lunch!

Friday, March 2, 2012

A year ago today I walked into my OBs office with a heavy heart.  A week earlier I laid on the ultrasound table and watched the screen as my OB moved the wand back and forth searching for any sign that there was a baby forming.  Unfortunately, all we saw was an empty sac.  I left the office that day with the belief that I would miscarry naturally within the next few weeks.  Just in case, my dr had me get some blood tests done. When those numbers looked good, she scheduled me for another ultrasound.  March 3, 2011 I found myself laying on that same table praying like crazy for a miracle.  Within a couple minutes, tears formed in my eyes as I looked at the screen.  The tech pointed at it, but I had already seen it....there was a baby in there with a little beating heart.  I could hardly believe it.  I got in the car and called Jason and told him that we had another little miracle baby on the way.

A year later, I woke up to the sweet sound of Ashton chattering away to himself in his bed.  I watched Grant wake up and go over and kiss Ashton's head and in his sweet little voice say, "Good morning baby Ashton."   I am so thankful that God changed his mind and blessed us with Ashton Nowell.  I love my little mini-me so much!
