11 months!

Grant Weston-- where has the time gone? I can't believe that last year at this time we were putting the final touches on your nursery and wondering what life would be like with a baby in the house. Now here we are watching you take your first steps and wondering how we suddenly have an 11 month old!

This is what you have been up to...

*you still have a teeny waist and 9 month clothes are fitting just fine. Not sure on your other stats because you haven't been to the dr lately.

*we started this month with you eating everything in sight and we are ending it with you eating almost nothing! You had an upset tummy after we got back from the cottage and spent a few days eating nothing but bottles. We worked back up to jar food and then a few table foods and then we got the stomach flu. You will gladly eat bananas and yogurt but otherwise, it is a guessing game if you will eat it or spit it right out at me! This has made meal time my least favorite time of the day!

*you are into everything! The minute I blink you are on the move opening the cabinet doors or figuring out a way to get the register cover off and put all of your Little People and the register cover down the register.

*you still love to swim and can even paddle your arms now like a big boy.

*you love music and bounce every time you hear even a commercial with some sort of tune.

*you imitate a lot of things now. When we stick out our tongue, you stick out your tongue. When we make a high pitch sound, you make a high pitch sound. It is pretty cute, but definitely makes us more aware of what we do and say!

*you also pucker your lips and make a kiss sound like we do when we kiss you- it is SO CUTE!

*you are now standing on your own and today you took your first two steps!

*you still love to put everything in your mouth. Cat food seems to still be on your list of must have foods!

*you love to splash around in your bath and eat your bath toys.

*you say ba ba for bye bye, na na for no and per for Jasper the cat. Otherwise you say a lot of things that make no sense to us.

Every month with you has been amazing, but we have to admit that we absolutely love the phase you are in right now- even if it keeps us very busy! You are so curious and interactive and we just can't get enough of you! xoxo- momma and dada

Beach Bum...

Yesterday, we headed to the shores of Lake M to enjoy a beautiful day at the beach. It used to be that I would sit in my beach chair for hours on end reading a book and tanning myself. Not anymore!!! This trip confirmed the fact that #1- my child has no fear of water. #2- There will be no more relaxing beach days. And, #3 -I am in trouble when it comes to Grant and his adventurous spirit!

Grant loved the waves crashing onto him so much that he screamed when we took him away from them. Floating around the lake is boring to him now that he knows the excitement of waves. This would be when I started to get scared for what our future may look like- YIKES!

All in all, it was a wonderful day at the beach. Even though it wasn't as relaxing as it used to be, I wouldn't trade it for a normal day at the beach ever!

issues?

Anyone having issues with blogger today?  I have been trying to post pictures all day and I can't get them to upload. Just wondered if it was just me or an issue others are havingas well.  With this and all of the other formatting issues, I am tempted to look into Wordpress because I am sick of wasting time!!!

August 19- Day of Hope

August 19th is a day to break down the walls of society that keep pregnancy, infant and child loss a hush hush subject.

People view the death of a baby as just a sad thing that happened. These babies that die are not sad things that happen. They are people, much loved and wanted children. They are brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandsons and granddaughters.

August 19th is about openly speaking about these children and celebrating their short lives.

By having this special day once a year we get people speaking about pregnancy, infant and child loss. And by doing this we break those walls down so that people are not afraid to speak about these children anymore.

Cottage Life

*I apologize for the crazy formatting on this post. I have been trying to fix it all day and am giving up!*

Ever since Jason and I started dating, I have been joining his family for a week at a cottage up north. Back then we were all just adults laying in the sun, reading books and relaxing around the campfire.

A few years later, kiddos starting arriving and the scene took a whole new direction. Instead of sitting around the campfire, our chairs were scattered around the sandbox. For a couple years, the cottage was a very tough place for me to be. When I longed so desperately for a child, sitting around the sandbox listening to birth stories, nap time dilemmas and diaper disasters was painful. We were the only married couple without children or a baby on the way and it was a very lonely place for me. If you were following my blog 2 years ago, you might remember how extremely difficult it was for me to go to the cottage only weeks after losing Brooke and Alexcyn.

This year was so different. I was no longer alone because I finally had what I longed for. I had Grant! The week was wonderful and brought me back to all of the fun times we had at the cottage when infertility was a word that never crossed our minds.

Here are a few snapshots of the week...

Grant LOVED taking slow rides on the wave runner with daddy. He even screamed when we went to take him off of it because he wanted back on- it was so funny!

Grant suddenly thought he didn't need a bottle or a sippy anymore!

Every day is an adventure around here....

I swear he has the ears of a cat! The minute I open the fridge, he drops what he is doing and crawls at lightening speed to get a chance to play with everything in the door which is obviously not much these days since he likes to take it out and throw it!

It took him a while, but he finally discovered how exciting the bathroom is for a baby! The toilet paper roll provides endless fun and pretty sure he thinks the toilet is a bathtub he can splash in- YUCK!

Same scenario as the fridge. The minute I open the dishwasher, Grant is right there ready to open and close the detergent holder!

So needless to say our wine rack is empty, our bathroom door is always closed, and we open and close our fridge and dishwasher with lightening speed!

10 months

Wow! I can hardly believe that in two months my baby is going to be 1 years old! I love the stage that Grant is in right now, but I do think back fondly to the times that my itty baby just cuddled in my arms.

This is what Grant has been up to this month...

*he weighs 18 pounds and is 28 1/2 inches long- he is only 15% for weight and 60% for height! He is going to be a tall and skinny boy!

*he is still wearing 9 month clothing and hopefully those will last him through summer!

*he finally started clapping and gets so excited when he does it- it is SO cute!

*he still puts everything in his mouth. A few weeks ago I called to sign us up to take a class at the hospital on choking and cpr and no more than an hour later, he choked up a penny. It scared the heck out of me and made me wish I had signed up for that class a month earlier!

*he LOVES swimming and will gladly float around in his floaty for hours.

*he is so curious and it is so fun to watch him discover how things work.

*favorite things to do right now.... open and close any door, take out all of the lids to my Tupperware and spread them all over the floor, splash around in the tub and pool, and take long walks in the stroller.

*he is pulling himself up and standing on everything- I mean e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g!

*poor Jasper the cat is constantly on the move because he chases him everywhere. He has even discovered his food and seems to really like it because he keeps going back for it! Wonder if I put his watermelon in a cat dish if he would eat it then!

*he eats pretty much all table food now with the exception of one bowl of cereal a day and a couple jars of food I am trying to use up. He loves yogurt and ice cream and anything he can feed himself like toast, most fruit, steamed veggies, etc.

*he talks all the time and I swore this morning he said Per for Jasper!

Every time Grant smiles at us, it makes our hearts melt. He is our miracle baby and everyday we have with him is an amazing adventure- we are truly blessed!
